Tearing off a strip of the heavy material of your gown is not easy, but
eventually you manage it, leaving your hemline even shorter, though that
is the least of your worries at the moment. Nor do you stop to consider
the risk that you may be taking by using material that has been
imperfectly cleaned of its coating of mud.
Having torn away too much material, you pull off from the strip a pirece of suitable size and insert it. Thankfully you start to feel better almost at once. You reflect that it was lucky that the cramps did not strike whilst you were swimming, or you would have been in serious danger of drowning.
