Jacques was shocked into silence for a few minutes before he could
speak. "Kill me? Why?" What had he done to anyone for them to want to kill
him? "I don't...I don't know," Wes admitted. "I wasn't told." Suddenly, he lunged at Jacques, but of course was still strapped into his seat, so didn't get very far. The jerk seemed to shake him back to reality. and he shook his head to clear it. "What just happened?" he said. "I blanked out for a second." "You tried to attack me," a shaken Jacques told him. "What!?" Wes exclaimed. "There's nothing for it, then. You'll have to take Steve and the passengers and leave me behind." "You can't expect us, especially me, to do that." Steve said. "We've been friends for over twenty years now. I won't just abandon you. We'll have to sort something out." He turned to Jacques. "Do you have some rope in your boat?" Jacques nodded. "Okay, so that's what we'll have to do." The co-pilot, whose name was Steve, unstrapped Wes and with the help of Jacques put him into the boat. Wes willingly allowed Jacques to tie him up with the rope, but there was no sign of him repeating his earlier action. Steve took the time to check on the passengers.
