Twin Tackiness

The Black Void - Episode 427

I begin wandering through the casino, searching for somebody who could answer the questions that have begun stacking themselves in my mind. As I wander (more or less aimlessly), I am pleased to find the tacky Middle Eastern theme has dissipated. Unfortunately, it is replaced in each new area by another theme, even tackier than before. There's a Paris-based area, followed by an "Under the Sea" type area, and even the Antarctic. What is this, I think to myself, a casino or a middle school dance?

Finally, in what appears to be the central area of the casino (I can't really tell, I have no idea how far it goes in any given direction), I come across a small booth labeled "Information." There are what appear to be identical twins standing together behind it. Both are balding, short and stocky, and seem to fit in all too well with the overall tackiness of the casino. They are wearing name tags; the one on my left is named "Mel" and the one on the right named "Lem." Twins with matching names, I think. Boy, this is gonna be great. I approach them, and before I can even speak, Mel addresses me.

"Ah, we've been expecting you," he says.

"Yes, how nice of you to participate in our little experiment," Lem adds.

"What do you mean you've been expecting me?" I ask. "What experiment?"

Lem jumps a little, as if he was startled by something. I think Mel might have kicked him in the shin, as if to say, "Shut up, you idiot." Then Mel turns to me and says with a forced chuckle, "This whole establishment is still in the 'experimental' stage, is what my brother means. But that doesn't mean it's not the best. But of course, you don't remember anything yet. A side effect of the Black Void transportation, I'm afraid. You'll remember soon enough. But I can assure you for now, you wanted to be here." I give him a rather confused look. "Oh yes, very much so. Anyone who's wealthy enough to afford Black Void transportation desires nothing but the best, and that's what you are, and that's what you want."

"Yes," Lem chimes in, "you must be a trillionaire, or the equivalent of one, wherever it is you came from."

Impossible, I think. Me, a trillionaire? I may not remember who I am, but I still don't feel that important. My casual clothes don't lend to the idea, either. Something about this whole story is fishy.

"So go enjoy yourself," Lem assures me. "You paid a hefty sum to do so."

Well, I am already here, and I do have a thousand Black Void Dollars, I tell myself as I cash in my voucher. I can't let up an opportunity like this. Heck, maybe I am a trillionaire. I'll figure everything out after I enjoy myself a little first. Still, this whole "experiment" thing is a little suspicious... What should I do?

  1. Play some Middle Eastern Roullete.
  2. Sit down for some Parisian Poker.
  3. Settle down to some Underwater Slots.
  4. Watch some Antarctic Entertainment.
  5. This is all too wierd. I have to investigate the situation some more.
  6. I should go find that redhead. Maybe she can help me...
