Concerning Anagrams

The Black Void - Episode 388

"Can you think of anything else that we could try?" I ask James. He shakes his head.

"Then I guess we might as well head back to 'civilisation'," I say. "I'll read Gold Cheer Beaches and see if that helps. I feel that it must be linked to Godel Escher Bach in some way."

"I would think so. Even its title is an anagram of the book that you wanted."

I'm startled. "Is it? Why didn't I notice that myself?" James just shrugs.

Then I have an idea. I rummage in my bag for a pen and a piece of scrap paper, then start rearranging the letters of Godel Escher Bach. "I'm wondering whether every plausible anagram of Godel Escher Bach will correspond to a book title from some reality or other," I explain to James.

  1. I ask the catalogue about Belch Charge Odes. OK, that might not sound like a very plausible title, but it is the best that I can come up with at short notice.
