As I stand pondering my options and the drastic changes some of them are
going to imply, the automatic door whirrs open but at first glance noone
comes in. Looking down I realize that a fluffy white Persian has entered
the room. It's pretty big for a cat, but still small for a human, and I
think about what I have just been told about shrinking. Could that be...? The cat stops and looks me up and down. It shakes its head. It opens its mouth. It... speaks to me. "You look like you'd make a fine cat. Are you sure you want to be a dog?" I stare at it in disbelief. "Wha... buh..." Great, the cat is more articulate than I am! The cat sighs and tilts its head. Her head. Its voice has a distinct feminine tone, so I assume it's a female. "Sorry, I mean... meow?" I keep staring, the sense of unreality I've felt since I came here blown away. This is real! Giving me up for the moment, the cat gets to her feet - all four of them - and walks over to the tall woman.
