Three days pass rather uneventfully, well as uneventful as three days
nuturing newborns can be anyway. The babies are almost more than I can
handle, demanding constant attention, but with Moula's help I somehow
manage. Of course, they're also a constant source of joy and wonderment.
The Valiant's owner and innkeeper, a kindly old man named Duncan, has been very accomodating thus far, providing what we need. John and Teran have taken on some odd jobs for the river-traders, but I can tell they're itching to get back to real mercenary work. John's been somewhat reticent around me since I gave birth, probably still stung by my decision not to wed him. Yet he seems relieved, too, that the children and I are doing alright. Now that I feel well enough to travel, I wonder if I really should? Gustav's men haven't found this place yet, and, if Teran is to be believed, it's possible they never will. And even if they did find me here, there's usually at least a few rivermen around, in addition to the innkeeper. So, they could protect us even if John and Teran have travel far off in search of work. If the owner will have us, it would be possible to stay here for a while. Of course, Moula and I would have to earn our keep somehow, when not caring for the twins. On the other hand, part of me knows the only way to truly assure safety for myself and my babies is to see to it that Gustav is put behind bars. After what I've had to endure, seeing him brought to justice would bring me a level of, if not satisfaction, at least closure. Doing so means returning to Theras, finding Cornelius, and getting him to prosecute Gustav. Of couse, going back also increases the risk of capture. Later that day, the twins are asleep, and we discuss the situation over dinner.
