A Homely Home

"Don't get many women travelling alone, 'specially not at this hour." he muses, stroking his beard thoughtfully.

"Yes, well, I was working as a waitress for a private party." I explain. "Unfortunately, the host was...unable to provide me transport home. I decided to stay here rather than walk all the way back to my current residence at this time of night."

He raises an eyebrow slightly. "Very well, follow me then."

We ascend some narrow, creaky stairs to a darkened hallway with only three doors. He opens the one nearest the stairs. "Here's your room. We only have one other guest tonight. He went to bed some time ago. There's a bathroom at the end of the hallway. I sleep downstairs. Have a good night." The old man turns and departs back down the steps.

The room, like the inn itself, is clean and furnished simply. The bed is surprisingly comfortable. I don't have a nightdress with me, but the weather's warm enough that I can get by with just my undergarments. I settle in and soon fall asleep.

1. I have another disturbing, vision-like dream. As in most of the others, in it I am heavily pregnant, and in a considerable degree of distress.
2. I awaken to the sound of raised voices downstairs. One of them, I recognize as Gustav's. I overhear him yell "That girl took something very valuable from me tonight and I will take it, and her, back immediatley!" He must have discovered the missing page!
3. I wake up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, and on the way back, encounter the inn's other guest. Surprisingly, it's someone I recognize.
