"All right, I'll do it." I reply, wondering if I'm making a big mistake. I feel a bit out of my depth here, but despite my doubts I shouldn't pass up this opportunity.

"Excellent. Here's a map of the city, with directions to the club. It's on the top floor of a shop in an upscale neighborhood, for the privacy of the patrons. There's also your first week's retainer there. It's not a lot, most of your earnings will come from the club." I thank him for the opportunity, then turn and leave.

Theras is quite a large place, and the map proves most useful. I stop for a bite to eat in an open-air marketplace, and continue on my way down into the more wealthy districts. I soon reach my destination, an unassuming sundries store.

The shopkeeper eyes me cautiously as I enter the store. "Can I help you, Miss?"

"Umm...I'm looking for work...." I trail off, mentally kicking myself for not getting more specific instructions on how to introduce myself. Fortunately, the shopkeeper seems to undertand what I'm here for. "Follow me." he states plainly. I follow him behind a curtain at the back of the counter, down a narrow, darkened hallway, to a set of stairs. "Go on up. It's still early, not a lot of customers yet. Since you already knew to come here, I probably don't have to tell you this, but I will anyway: this is a private establishment. Tell no one about it's location, or what happens within."

I nod, and ascend the stairs. At the top is a single, locked doorway. I knock, and the door opens to reveal a thin, well dressed man in his mid- forties.

"I take it you're to be the new help?" he asks without preamble.

"Yes." I reply simply.

"Very well, come with me and we'll get you started."

The club is lavishly decorated, with plenty of tables and comfortable chairs and sofas. The lighting is dim, provided primarily by candles. I spot only one or two men at the bar drinking, and another sitting alone in the corner.

"Have you any experience as a barmaid?" the man, who's name I don't even know yet, asks. I nod in the affirmative.

1. "Good, you can get started right away then. You'll need to change clothes first, of course. There's a changing room behind the bar." He then turns and walks away to one of the tables.
2. He introduces himself, and gives me more info about the club and its clientele.
