Light that isn't Right

I see that the lights of the lanterns are flickering, due to the haste in which they are being carried, and the draught the guards have sent swirling through the room.

Everything seems to freeze for a moment as the melee becomes even more confused...

Light throws fighters into weird tableaux, arms cocked, fists clenched, furniture overhead- it's like a flash of some other world, or a glimpse of a furious ocean floor, full of predatory life- then there is a blinding white light and a sharp pain on the back of my head...
