Susan shakes her head sadly. "I'm very sorry, but it's true. The human race has been reduced to 357 souls, all of whom live in this protected, self sustaining research facility. We're doing genetic experimentation to try to figure out how to get humanity back on it's feet and revitalize the Earth."

"How did this happen?" you ask, shaking your head. You don't remember any of this. "How was humanity almost destroyed?"

1. "A terrible plague nearly wiped out humanity. Only a handful had a natural immunity. Including you and I, and everyone else here, in fact."
