Perhaps Amergin wasn't quite so useless as she had been assuming, Sarah
reflected. He quickly unlocked her cell door, Sarah having enough sense
not to distract him by asking him how he had managed to get the key.
They managed to get out onto the street without being spotted. Sarah hoped that with Amergin's spare hat once more over her ears, and the sack- dress that she had been forced to wear disguising her curves, she wouldn't attract any unwelcome attention. (Once they were safely out of town, she would have to find something else to wear, though. The sacking itched abominably and was uncomfortably warm.)
