The Truth and a Surprise

The alien seems to look you up and down slowly before replying. "Come to think of it, your clothing is strange, as is your accent. Hmmm..." He surprises you asking you a few questions. After a slight hesitation you give the answers. What have you to lose?

He walks over to what you think is a computer terminal and appears to enter some information. After a while, he makes a kind of 'Aha!' noise before returning to where you've been virtually riveted to the spot.

You ask what he was doing. "Accessing the Terranian Historical Database," he informs you. "It's the definitive guide to your planet and its achievements."

"Oh?" You enquire. "Did you find out something about me?"

He gives the best approximation of a nod he can. "Yes. Your whole personal history in fact."

You stare in shock before stammering "H...How is that possible?"

He gives what you take to be his version of a laugh before speaking. "The Database contains information on every human that's been born," he tells you. "but I'll spare you the details as I don't want to overload your brain."

1. You ask if the other races (including his) have equivalent databases.
2. The starbase commander walks in. He's never seen a human before.
3. The alien asks if he can show you around.
4. He actually explains what happens
