Inaccessible Lighting

You make your way carefully toward the light over the rough and rocky
ground, but it soon becomes apparent that you won't be able to get out
that way. The light is coming from an opening up above you. The walls
are too steep and smooth to climb up to it.
There's more light here, closer to the hole, but no way out. Fearfully you peer around you into the dark recesses of the cave. You think you hear something skittering across the floor. Maybe several somethings. Moving away from that particular direction, you feel your way along a wall. There seems to be a slight breeze coming from that direction. That has to be a good sign, right? Suddenly you hear more noises from the opposite direction. Not skittering, more like shuffling. Wait, were those voices? Or just your imagination playing tricks on you? If there are other people down here, maybe they can help you. Or maybe they could hurt you.
