Psycho Analysis

"Something new, Joey!" explains the head scientist, Professor Azazelovich "You're going to meet a new friend. His name is Mr. Van Buren, and he's a Psychominister from the Bureau of Reflexive Force."

"I don't like it." you grimace. "Can I bite him? I don't like him."

"No, Joey." Azazelovich chuckles. "He's a very nice person who's very important to the Project. He just wants to ask you a few questions to see how well your treatments are progressing."

The pretty young intern gives you your second daily injection and you giggle, frothing slightly at the mouth. You are ushered through sterile white corridors to an examination room. They seat you down at a table, across from a gaunt middle-aged man with piercing grey eyes. Your initial suspicions are confirmed - you don't like him at all.

"Hello, Joey." Van Buren smiles, offering you his hand. "How are you today?"

You lick your lips and stare blankly at his hand. After an awkward moment it is retracted and you relax. With the same vague smile playing across his lips Van Buren slides a pen and paper across the table.

"Here you go, Joey. Please fill this out. For the records."

You look at the paper, then pick it up and stuff it in your mouth.

"Done." you mumble, chewing and staring at Van Buren.

"Okay, Joey." Van Buren sighs. "Let's play a little game. I'll say a word, and you close your eyes and say the first word that comes to your mind. Got it?"

"Got it."

"Blanket." Van Buren says.

"Maggot-ridden corpse." you reply.

"Flower."

"Holocaust."

"Girl." Van Buren smiles.

"Aztecs." you say thoughtfully.

"Sky."

"Torture."

"That's good, Joey. Can you hold on a moment?" Van Buren stands up and walks over to Azazelovich. From the tone of their half-whispered conversation you can tell Van Buren is...
