Sister Gabrielle measures out the pig feed into a huge galvanized bucket in
the back of the barn and heads out for the sties. Whoever said pigs had to
have special feed? Whoever thought nuns had to feed pigs? On the other
hand, tending pigs at the convent was better than doing a stretch of time
in the pen, and what choice did she have, after those stupid male
accomplices of hers had shot two guards and then tried to get away. She
told them they could keep the filthy money. No amount of cash was worth
doing time for. It was that simple.
"Suee! Suee!" calls Sister Gabrielle as she heads out to the sties. Pigs, like pigs anywhere, were always hungry. She empties the pig feed into the pigs' cement trough. Pigs are OK except they smell, well like pigs. Sister Gabrielle contemplates the pigs eating when she sees the police car pull up, a real black and white, not even a detective in an unmarked car. How had they found her here? Had one of the nuns snitched? Well Sister Gabrielle has a score to settle. Without taking off her coveralls, she races back toward the mother house and toward the office. Sister Priscilla had never liked her, never trusted her and all the rest. Well, Sister Priscilla is going to pay. Sister Gabrielle stands before the office door, muddy boots tracking on to the hard wood floor, big shovel in her hands. When she sees Sister Priscilla again, she is going to let the shovel do the talking. The door did not open. Sister Gabrielle finally busts her way inside. The office is empty and the convent safe wide open and empty too. Well, some folks have all the luck. Well, as long as there was one robbery, there just might as well be two. Sister Gabrielle stepped into the large walk-in safe to see if any money was left and that was when everything went black. "Hey open up out there!" Sister Gabrielle shouts. No one hears. Her words seem to die in the very blackness. "Let me out! Let me out!" Suddenly Sister Gabrielle hears a door open and male voices. "She's probably hiding in there. She's been hiding for three days. She'll be pretty easy to take. Just wait until we collect the reward money and remember it says dead or alive, so if a little accident happens..." Sister Gabrielle sees the shadows advance. She could also see that she is now in a large basement room with pillars. There might be somewhere to hide, but Sister Gabrielle was not sure she wanted to hide.
