The Burden of Royalty

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 99927

"What did you mean when you referred to 'the burden of being a princess'?" Frad asked.

"As a princess and the heir to the throne, I had to make many very important decisions which could have a major impact on the Aqualarian people. Also one day I would have to marry whichever prince would be most advantageous for my country, rather than for love.

"It was to get away from all that for a short while that I went on my ill-fated quest to slay the dragon. But as your slave, I shall never again have to make a decision of my own. All that I can do is whatever you desire. In a way that is comforting, though at the same time there is still a part of me that rages against it. I suspect that the longer I spend as a djinn, the smaller and smaller that part of me will get, until eventually the spark is extinguished altogether."

"That's terrible...

  1. "But since we both came here to destroy the dragon I can at least ask you to help me in that without feeling guilty."
  2. "Is there no way to undo what has happened to you?"
  3. "So what do you want, Astra?" "What I want I cannot have: my freedom. It is better that I do not even think about it. As I have said, I think that in time I shall no longer want it."
  4. "So what do you want, Astra?" "I want to serve you. As a djinn, I have no choice in what I want."
