As Fred considered his options, Astra said: "I was so stunned at being returned to life, not to mention initially feeling so wretched - as a ghost I'd forgotten what it was like to feel cold or hungry or tired - that I haven't yet thanked you properly. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. I shall be forever in your debt, for it is too great for me to ever hope to fully repay it.

"But how is what has happened possible? People can't be brought back from the dead. Even necromancers can't do that. They claim to be able to animate corpses, but that is not the same thing at all. Are you not only a warrior but also a great wizard, with amazing powers?"

"Certainly not! I can't explain it. I had just hoped that your spirit might be freed from the boat when I brought it ashore. I hadn't dreamt that you might be restored to life. But now I need to decide what we should do next. I think that we should try to escape from the cave so that I can return you to your home. It is the duty of a knight to rescue a princess, even above that of slaying a dragon. Also I have never been to Aqualaria and would like to do so."

  1. "Thank you. It would be good to go home."
  2. "As I said, I am in your debt, and that means that I shall abide by your decisions." Fred sensed that Astra didn't agree with his decision.
  3. "Don't I have a say in this? If I am right, many, many years have passed since I left Aqualaria, so returning home is not an enticing prospect. I should sooner aid you in your quest to kill the dragon. I have a score to settle with him."
