Astra Takes Off

"I suppose that I should, though I feel rather nervous about it."

"It would take us a long time to climb down the mountainside, but you could descend to the foothills much more quickly. With any luck, there will be a village there. You can get yourself something to wear, [31084] with holes cut in it for your wings, and perhaps bring us back some badly-needed supplies."

"That does sound like a good idea, though I don't know how much weight I'll be able to carry. I wish this mountainside wasn't so steep; if the wings won't hold me then I could fall an awfully long way."

But Astra's fears proved groundless. She discarded her shoes - they might weigh her down and she wouldn't need them while flying - and then ran down the steeply sloping small grassy field, beating her wings powerfully as she did so. She quickly soared into the air. "This is fun!" she called back to Fred and Velus, before heading off into the distance.

It only took her a matter of minutes to descend the mountain, and in a valley at its foot as they had hoped she found a village.

1. The villagers aid her.
2. Unfortunately the villagers conclude from her leathery wings that she must be a were-dragoness, and look to kill her or at least drive her off.
3. Unfortunately the superstitious villagers conclude from her black leathery wings and her near-nudity that she must be a demoness - most probably a succubus - and look to kill her or at least drive her off.
