"I don't know what the liquid is," Fred answered. "I found the bottle in a chest a little while ago, and took it just in case it might prove useful. All I can tell you is that the contents glow under the light from the lamps in the tunnel back there." He indicated the direction with a wave of his hand.

"I see. Blue is an uncommon colour for a liquid. I have a feeling that I've seen something like it before, but I can't bring to mind what it was... Um, what are you trying to do with the boat?"

"I'm trying to pull it out of the water. I had the idea that once the boat was on dry land then it might somehow sever the link between you and it."

To Fred's surprise, Astra chuckled. "Perhaps you think that I stay in the boat only because I am afraid of getting my feet wet? I'm sorry; I shouldn't make a joke of it. It's a very kind thought, but I should be astonished if it worked."

  1. The rowboat is removed from the canal. The ghost of Astra disappears.
