"I quite agree that you should be worth considerably more than a hundred gold pieces," the first swordsman agreed, "but unfortunately that is all that the Dragon is offering as a reward for your capture. And since we work for him, we don't have any say in the matter. If we were to ask for more, then at best we would get nothing at all and at worst he would burn us to a crisp."

"If you set us free then I'll pay you two hundred," Astra said.

"Even for that amount, it's not worth risking the Dragon's wrath if he was ever to find out. Besides, how could you get the money to us? I suppose that we could let your friend free, though. The Dragon can't know about her, as there's no price on her head."

  2. "Thanks," Ardua said.
  3. "But I have the money cached away right here in the caves," Astra lied. "Just set us both free, and I will lead you right to it."
