Alone on the Beach

Future Astra smiled. "Don't worry," she said. "You can see that I am unscathed, which means that you won't get hurt. Now I must bid you farewell." Handing over the blanket, she stepped into the skiff and poled it away.

Current Astra watched until the skiff disappeared into the mist. What a strange encounter that had been! How had two instances of herself come to exist in the same time? And why on earth should she need to dye her hair brown?

She decided that she had better start by seeing what supplies she had. As well as the expected food and water, she found a container of brown hair dye. Should she dye her hair now?

1. She decided that she would.
2. She decided to wait until she had some compelling reason to do so.
3. The supplies made her uneasy. Since she had not brought them to the beach herself, who had provided them?
4. Before she could decide whether to dye her hair, the "excitement" which her future self had referred to began.
5. Before she could decide whether to dye her hair, suddenly a blue box slowly appeared.
