Back in Caemlyn

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 99011

Astra was worried that her friends would think that either she had deserted them or else had been clandestinely abducted by the Hespanian occupying forces. It would be even worse if Copernica managed to get a message to her mother, Queen Maia, about her return and disappearance. But there was nothing that she could do about it now.

Initially rather alarmed to find herself in mid-air, she was quickly coming to find flying rather exhilarating. She wondered just how long her journey would take, though, as she was beginning to feel a little chilly. In her brief stay in Aqualaria she had not had a chance to get herself any night attire, and so was wearing the underwear that had come as part of the outfit that Copernica had given her.[66039] At least I'm wearing a little more than the last time that I arrived in Caemlyn, she thought. She snuggled down under the blankets, which was a lot better.

She was afraid that it might get a lot colder still, since her bed would have to climb as it passed over the Shreken mountain range, but Reaibn must have thought of that, for when the first hint of dawn began to show in the eastern sky she was able to see that the ocean was only a few miles away to her right. The bed must be skirting round the eastern edge of the mountains.

A few hours later, she saw Caemlyn ahead of her, and not long afterwards the bed made a smooth landing in a courtyard of the castle. Reaibn was there to greet her, in a preposterous outfit of bright blue, topped by an even more ridiculous hat with a large plume. A little surprisingly, the courtyard was otherwise deserted.

"Welcome, Princess," Reaibn said. "I much preferred your hair the way it used to be. But maybe a bit longer would be even better."

As he spoke he fingered the Eye, which hung on a chain round his neck. Astra'a hair, which Paula had cut, then dyed brown and fashioned into a short ponytail, [65737] in a the blink of an eye became waist-length and reverted to its normal red colour.

"Hello, Reaibn," Astra said, deciding that it would be pointless to say that actually she would have preferred her hair to be not quite so long. "So how can I aid you?"

  1. "All in good time, Princess. First I need to decide what attire would be fitting for you."
  2. "All in good time, Princess. First there's your marriage to King Frederigo to arrange. I was afraid that you might refuse to come if I let you know that that was a condition for my helping your country."
  3. Just then Fred entered the courtyard. She would have hardly recognised him. He looked tired and haggard, and there was a wild look in his eyes.
