For the first time the bounty hunter looked unsure of himself, indeed positively shaken. In fact it had simply been a name that Fred had picked on at random. It was an uncommon name in Allaria, but Fred had met one or two men by that name over the years. He wasn't going to admit that his choice of "Belboz" was no more than a coincidence, though. If he could make his captor believe that he had some supernatural power of his own - telepathy, maybe - then that might work to his advantage.
While Fred was thinking about this, the man went on: "Have we met somewhere? I don't remember you." "No, we've never met before that I know of. But I have a certain gift for reading the minds of others."
