What had Fred, Exotica and Velus seen to cause them such terror, in the strangely psychedelic cavern beyond the pool (that had once been a blue door that had once been a pool)? And had time really started to flow backwards? Those questions cannot yet be answered. All that can be said with certainty is that when they got back to the pool:

  1. The pathway which Exotica had created was still there.
  2. The pathway which Exotica had created had only been temporary, but their panic was such that they blundered through the pool anyway.
  3. Once again the pool had been replaced by the blue door. They could not open it, and were trapped on the same side as whatever had terrified them.
