To Run?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 9834

Murt had several choices, and none of them looked very appealing.

He could fight. That was not appealing for Murt had already concluded that to continue fighting along with his allies would be tantamount to suicide with the apparent entry of the Golems, the very people who'd nearly wiped out dragonkind from the face of Terra, and thus had broken (rather violently) from the other orcs. To fight now, alone......?

Fighting was out.

Hoodwinking Probe and company? Well, that could be done.....IF Murt had ANY idea what their true capabilities were. It was rumored that the Golems (a nickname that the Military was still called from time to time) could detect even the slightest of falsehoods....and reacted rather badly to them! No, there wasn't enough time to assess Probes true capabilities for an effective hoodwinking. If Murt failed, then he feared what the consequences would be!

"Running it is, then..." Murt sighs as he turns to leave the pavilion that had been erected by his soldiers for the upcoming hostage negotiation. He turns and nearly runs into the chest of a human appearing person.

Probe and a few of his family members smiles something that could only be remotely called a smile at the befuddled Murt. Probe shrugs off the unconscious orc guard that he'd knocked out before entry, as to the others who'd followed him in.

"Shall be begin?" Evis 7 says softly, coldly.

As one, the Golems make their Avatar's eyes light up red. Good for several purposes, this feature also plays a GOOD part in putting other parties out of sort (by intimidation).

It was crude, but it worked more often than not here on Terra Prime. Not an enlightened method, but sometimes necessary......

"And what was this about.....running?" Probe asks quietly to the suddenly sweating Murt.

"You.....aren't supposed to be here yet," Murt protested as the large Golem goes over to a throne like chair (Murt's) and slouches in it, looking down at the confused ex-dwarf.

"You said within three hours for Military Representatives to be here," Probe said softly, "Well, we are here well within the allotted time, Orc."

Indeed, within 5 minutes of the news of the orc's demands Queen Astra and King Willian La Post had been told and the Golem's authorized for these negotiations. Within fifteen minutes Probe and company (changed into camouflage outfits to be better commandos) had landed, snuck through the still forming orcen line of guards....knocked out the guards outside the negotiation tent....and had arrived. Arrived and caused much stress to the ex-dwarf who'd been named Balok....now named Murt.

Murt swallows nervously, an acid taste of fear in his mouth.

Good GODS! They call them Golems but I didn't think that they were GOLEMS!! Murt thinks fearfully to himself.

"This is bad." Murt says idiotically to himself.

That's when one of his lieutenants, still unaware of the unexpectedly early arrivals, comes bellowing into the tent (per typical dwarven fashion.....one holdover from his transformation ) about how in the course of their search for the prisoners a patrol had encountered a position of enemy orcs approximately a nights march from here.

The Orc bursts into the tent, and gapes at the scowling faces of the Golems. One look at Murt's enraged face told the poor orc that despite the apparent safety and security of their positions......Murt was going to have his guts for garters for this!

  1. Probe is out of Murt's chair and violently shaking the orc before he can fall upon his sword.....
