It took them about ninety minutes to cross the valley, and then another half an hour to climb the rough path up the mountainside to the plateau where the deserted monastery stood. Astra shivered occasionally, but refused to admit that she was cold.
They saw that the buildings of the monastery surrounded an inner courtyard. "I imagine that the courtyard is where the dragon roosts," Fred said. "He'd be too big to enter most of the buildings." "He might roost in the church," Astra pointed out. "See, the main door is open, and it's probably big enough for him to pass through."
