Lord Fred vaguely recognized the interior. He was in the King's dungeons,
a place he had explored when he got lost on a field trip with his class.
That must have been years ago, but he recognized every second of it: the
foul stench that filled the air and reminded him of burned, smelly socks;
the black, moist stone walls; and the rats. Hundreds of rats running all
over the place, always hungry, always looking for some bony prisoner too
weak to defend himself against the thousands of sharp claws and
teeth... A shiver went through Fred. He did not like this place. Suddenly he heard a small shriek from a dark corner. He could see several small lights flickering in the shadows; it must have been over a dozen rats over there, all ready to have a go at him, all hungry. And waiting. What they were waiting for, Fred did not know. They were growing in number; every now and then another pair of glowing eyes would joing the others. Then suddenly something came out of the shadows. It was a huge rat, almost two feet long, red-eyed and ready to kill. It crept slowly towards the spot where Fred was lying. Fred knew that once this monster of a rat attacked him, all the other rats would take it as a signal to charge. The leader rat crept closer...
