"First, I can't kill anyone. You can wish for armaments, but the blood shall be on your hands and not mine. You'll have to be the one to swing the sword or launch the bolt," she explained while she continued to float at that same spot in the ocean, referring to a crossbow in her second example. Fred nodded after he considered that, signaling that she could move on to the next rule. "I always could use a better sword," he thought.
"I also can't bring anyone back from the dead. That's just a general rule for most wish-granting beings. With the trickier ones who do grant that sort of wish you'd probably end up creating an undead creature," she continued, brushing some of her hair out of her face. Fred nodded again after she was done. "I can't make anyone fall in love with you. I can make you physically attractive, but if your personality is lacking then there's nothing I can do to help keep people from leaving you or shooting you down," she said while she had her arms crossed in front of her chest. That gesture seemed to be more about adding emphasis to her statement and less about modesty. "You can't wish that I was a human, --" she began. "Why not? I can see the purpose of the other rules but why can't I wish that?," Fred asked, interrupting Melody. "That's sea witch jurisdiction. These sorts of things were decided long before you were born. Some wish-granting creatures got the raw end of the deal, but it's designed so that few, if any, have unlimited power," she explained. "Don't get me wrong, I'd love to come ashore every once in a while, ... but I can't," she commented, shrugging her shoulders after the pause. Her tail-fin broke the surface behind her as if to emphasize this point.
