"That feels so much better," Pearl said with a smile as she rubbed the saltwater into her skin and scales with her webbed hands. Her eyes closed as she did so, not minding at all that Fred watched her. Her tail was more flexible than it had first appeared as it managed to curl and swung slowly from side-to-side as she laid in the shallows while her caudal fin flexed and flopped, splashing the water.
"I can imagine," Fred responded as he watched her pay particular attention to her neck at the moment. After a while longer, he looked around the beach while the mermaid eventually made her way into deeper water, deep enough for her to swim in without her caudal fin banging against the bottom. She swam through the water with an undulating motion in a manner similar to a dolphin, without the necessity to surface to breathe in her case. Fred seemed to have forgot what he was supposed to be doing before he met Pearl. One couldn't be sure if it was from the sight of her, his near-drowning, or hitting his head on something underwater. What would jog his memory?
