Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

"We're being horrid to you?" Fred said in amazement.

"You've been running away from me, haven't you? And I only wanted to be friends. It's so lonely in these caves. Even the dragon won't have anything to do with me." The creature started crying again. Or at any rate the yellow liquid that it emitted, which might have been tears, started oozing from it more rapidly.

"I'm sorry," Astra said, "but we thought that you meant us harm."

"And you do smell awful," Fred said less than tactfully.

"You're just prejudiced against me. You two smell revolting, and come to that you look revolting too. But I know that you can't help it, so I don't hold it against you."

As it spoke, the Blahgise oozed closer to them, making the stench even stronger. Fred and Astra struggled not to throw up. The thing was close enough now that the green smoke from it was getting into their eyes, causing them to water copiously so that their vision blurred. At least that meant that they couldn't see the hideous creature so clearly.

1. Astra tries to appease it.
2. Now that the creature seems to be close enough, the half-blinded Fred swings his sword at it.
3. "I do not look revolting," Astra says crossly.
