Fred-Hannah stated into the crystal ball. If she had the potential to be a
sorceress,
did that mean that she would be able to scry things in the ball? At first
all she saw
was her reflection. Then she saw - something. It seemed to be very far
away, visible
only as a tiny speck right at the centre of the ball. But then it seemed
to get nearer
and nearer, until it filled her whole vision and she was no longer aware
of the room
around her.
It was the dragon's lair that she saw. Gold ornaments, coins and precious stones lay in great piles upon the floor. In the centre of his hoard lay the dragon, asleep. His size was hard to judge, but he was an awesome sight. His green scales shimmered in the light that entered through an opening high in the roof of the cave. Then Fred-Hannah felt herself being dragged into the scene that she was observing.
