A Reluctant Imposition

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 9536

Stacy stood there for a moment, numbed by the news. Why does absolutely everything have to go wrong? she thought in despair. Why does the universe seem determined to punish me with not getting my memory back? A sense of shame followed hard on that thought, though. A man was dead, and here she was, feeling sorry for herself! Pitiful...

Stacy pulled herself together, and gave Dr. Smith a sad, sympathetic smile. "I'm so sorry," she said, laying a hand lightly on his arm. "You said you'd be going out for the funeral?"

"Yes," he replied. "It's the day after tomorrow. I'll have to cancel my classes." He looked shocked, lost.

Stacy hated herself for what she was going to ask next, but she knew she had to ask it: if not for herself, then for the others who had been affected by her irresponsible experimentation. "Dr. Smith... Geoff. I know this is terribly inappropriate, but... Do you think I could accompany you to LA? Perhaps... Perhaps we could get a look at your colleague's notes. I wouldn't ask if it weren't so important."

  1. "Yes, of course. I'm sure it's what he would have wanted."
  2. "I'm sorry, but that's... That's just out of the question."
  3. "You don't understand. When he was murdered, his house and lab were both ransacked. All his notes are gone! Why would someone want to do that?"
