Fred's Qualms

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 95219

Fred realised that he couldn't slay the two guards as he had planned. These slaves had no more choice in what they were doing than Astra had. Could he manage to knock them unconscious without doing them any real harm? Since they were armed, and no doubt would be compelled to try to kill him, that could be very difficult.

As Fred pondered what to do, one of the guards unlocked the bracelet on Astra's ankle, releasing her from her own compulsion to keep working. She sighed with relief, then:

  1. She let her body slump, totally exhausted from her enforced exertion. Clearly if Fred decided to tackle the guards he couldn't expect much help from her.
  2. She shouted: "Come on, Fred! What are you waiting for?"
  3. Apparently not having Fred's scruples - or maybe not recognising the signs that the guards were being compelled - she aimed her pickaxe in a vicious blow at one of them.
