An Imprecise Spell

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 95213

"Why would we need to wait for three days?" Fred asked.

"Because I would need that long to recharge my mana. Creating objects is quite demanding."

"I don't understand why the clothes might turn out to be something silly," Sir Joshua said.

"Magic is not an exact science. Some spells are very sensitive to the way that the words of the spell are recited, with a tiny change in speed or intonation making a big difference to the result. The clothing spell is one of those. Of course, if the result of the spell turns out to be too outlandish, we can always just take off the offending items. And at least if we do look ridiculous, there's nobody else here to see it."

"Go ahead, then," Sir Joshua said. Fred nodded his agreement.

So Exotica cast the spell. The result was that they found themselves wearing:

  1. Diapers in a shade of orange so bright that it almost hurt the eyes.
  2. Grass skirts, which at least fitted into the tropical island setting.
  3. Clown costumes, including appropriate make-up. Also they now had bouffant, frizzy, orange-coloured hair, something that Exotica hadn't realised that the clothing spell was capable of producing.
  4. Quite sensible outfits. [But as that would be boring, I've left it till last.]
