To add to the snoring of her unwelcome roommates, Astra found that the presence of the chastity belt made it almost impossible for her to find a comfortable position on the mattress. So she got out of bed and resumed yelling and beating on the door.

For a second time Fred found his interrogation of one of his nobles interrupted by the din, for Astra's room was not that far away. "Excuse me," he told the man, "but I need to see what is the matter with the princess. Please wait here. I should not be long."

With that, he transported himself into Astra's room. "What is it this time?" he asked rather tetchily.

Astra pointed at Belboz and Wendel. "Those two were making too much noise for me to sleep. And also...

  2. But she got no further. "Noise?" Fred said. "You dare to kick up that unholy racket and then complain about noise! Well you shall make no more noise tonight." Astra finds her hands cuffed behind her back and with a gag in her mouth.
  3. "Noise?" Fred said. "You kick up that unholy racket and then complain about noise! You shall disturb me no further." Astra finds herself lying spreadeagled on the bed, her ankles and wrists chained to the bedposts, and with a gag in her mouth.
  4. But she got no further. "Noise?" Fred said. "You dare to kick up that unholy racket and then complain about noise! It's back to the dungeons for you, where you can yell all you want but I shan't be able to hear you."
  5. But she got no further. "Noise?" Fred said. "You dare to kick up that unholy racket and then complain about noise! I'm having second thoughts about our marriage, if this is how you are going to behave."
  6. But she got no further. "Noise?" Fred said. "You dare to kick up that unholy racket and then complain about noise! As a fitting punishment, I am taking away your voice. You will get it back just before the start of the wedding service."
