Astra was sure of two things: this really was her sister Alex and that
Alex was lying when she claimed that five years had gone by. Why would
she tell a lie like that? It was hard to see any possible reason. Should
she tell her sister that she didn't believe her? Perhaps then she would
tell her the truth? Or should she let it pass? Accusing Alex of lying
wouldn't be a very sisterly thing to do. And Alex must surely have a good
reason for the lie, even though she (Astra) couldn't imagine what it
could be. And though it was a strange thing to lie about, did the lie
actually do any harm?
She was at a loss, but eventually decided:
