By the time they had reached dessert, Astra and Belboz had settled on every detail of the actual ceremony, including the design and colour of Astra's wedding dress. (It would be red, in accordance with Aqualarian custom.) He had told her that he was going to be Fred's best man, at Fred's insistence. They had now almost finished deciding on the food, drink and music for the reception.

"If the food and wine are as good as we've had this evening, then there should be no complaints," Astra said. "It's strange to have this huge dining hall to ourselves, though. What's happened to all the courtiers?"

  1. "They would normally be dining here, but Fred wanted us to have complete privacy. Well, if you ignore the waiters that is. But the nobility always seem to think that servants don't count."
  2. "Fred banished them all from court. He thought that they were still loyal to King Emry."
