Itching Tends to Lead to Impatience

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 93695

"It's not that easy to think when you itch like this," Fred said. They had five sores each by now. His own most recent addition was in his left armpit, whilst Astra's was on the side of her nose. It was in a more obvious location than any of her others, and Fred tried not to stare at it.

"I know, but we must try. If someone has waylaid Bartholomew, then Reaibn must somehow know that we are here and must also have someone local working for him. For us to escape from him or them, the best thing might be to leave immediately. But that would leave your friend Bartholomew in the lurch, and would be a nasty thing to do after he has been so kind to us. Besides, I should like that healer to look at our sores. I doubt that he could cure them, but he might at least be able to give us some soothing ointment that would reduce the itching."

"I agree. In a small place like this, it seems unlikely that Reaibn would have many people working for him. And most likely they won't be very skilled in fighting. I suggest that we arm ourselves with carving knives from the kitchen and then go looking for them. This place is small enough that they shouldn't be too hard to find, and when we do we should be able to deal with them."

"Let's do it. I'm going barefoot, though."

"Why?" Fred asked.

"Why do you think? Because one of my sores is on the upper part of my foot and a shoe rubbing on it would be horrid. Clothes are bad enough."

  1. They succeed in finding and rescuing Bartholomew.
  2. They discover where Bartholomew is being held. Unfortunately there are more of the urchins than they had bargained for, and our heroes are defeated and captured.
  3. But they can't find Bartholomew.
