Astra realises that she has remained in one spot for too long. Fred had evidently used the time first to locate her and then to somehow possess the body of the old man. He must now have amazing powers, to have done that. She is a skilled warrior, but she knows that the first rule of combat is to run if your enemy has a weapon and you are unarmed. (Surrender was sometimes an alternative option, but doesn't seem like a good idea in this case.)

Luckily there is another door out of the room as well as the one that the old man is currently blocking. She runs for it. At least she ought to be able to outrun her adversary, given his age.

  1. The door that she takes opens into a passage, which in turn leads to a door to the outside. Then she is running as fast as she can down the street, still naked. If Fred could possess people, then she had to reach open country as quickly as she could.
  2. But the door leads into a storage cupboard. Grabbing a broom, as the nearest thing to a weapon that the cupboard contains, she turns to face her adversary.
  3. But before she can reach the door, she finds herself frozen in place. More magic!
