Deciding to Stay

"I very much doubt it. You might in theory be the ruler of this country, but you've seen how much power Reaibn has. He changed my clothes and the contents of my plate with just a wave of his hand. He must be the most powerful mage ever, which coupled with his madness makes him extremely dangerous. I think that everyone at court is either terrified of him or, perhaps even more worrying, has had their ability to think rationally taken away. He might do that to us next."

"It's hard to argue with you, and of course you are free to go whenever you wish. But I can't come with you. I feel that it would be dishonourable to flee."

Astra sighed. "I don't want to leave you alone in this madhouse. I've come to like and respect you too much. So I'll stay for another forty-eight hours. But if things look no better then, I'm leaving."

"Thank you, My Lady."

They continued to discuss the situation, before it was time to go to the main hall.

1. They discussed the coronation arrangements with Reaibn.
2. Reaibn made it clear to them that he had somehow been able to overhear their conversation. Astra received another magical change of costume as punishment. As Reaibn's choice as heir to the throne, Fred still seemed to be immune from chastisement.
