I'm between the Devil and the deep blue sea, Astra reflected. Is it better to face madness in Allaria or evil in Hyrcania? Reaibn is the one man who might have enough power to be able to overthrow the Master and free Aqualaria, but he admits himself that - apart from brief moments - he is insane. He says that I can help to restore his sanity because I am unaffected by the madness, but if I return to Allaria then how long can I remain sane? Almost everyone in that land seemed to have been affected by the madness to a greater or lesser degree going by what I saw when I was there, and the closer that I get to Reaibn and his Eye the harder it's likely to be to hang on to my own sanity. In fact I could already have experienced a period of insanity, for there were those strange shifts that happened during the latter part of my journey back to Aqualaria, not to mention my somehow 'losing' five years. Maybe the Master was responsible, but maybe not.
If I did decide to return to Allaria, then I would have to inform Copernica and Paula. Would they see it as a betrayal, thinking that I was deserting my country? I'd need to tell Sabok too, of course. Astra sighed, as she came to a decision. She had always known that going to Hyrcania would be very dangerous and that it was a long shot that doing so would reveal to her a means of overthrowing the Hespan overlordship of Aqualaria. [65959] For all her reservations about accepting Reaibn's offer, it had to be a better bet. So, having once escaped from the asylum that Allaria had become, now she would return to it. She just hoped that after all this time Reaibn had forgotten his idea that she should marry Fred. [26282 and previously] So she wrote on the back of Reaibn's letter: Reaibn,
She put the letter back in the envelope, and a few seconds later it vanished into thin air.
