Once the three of them were outside, the cheering of the crowd redoubled
as they saw Fred and Astra. Reaibn was a few paces ahead, which gave Fred
the chance to whisper: "Astra, are you feeling all right?"
"Yes, never better, darling. I'm so looking forward to becoming your wife and queen." Darling?! Fred felt even more sure that something was very wrong. He said: "Reaibn told me that he was going to have to convince you to go along with his ideas. It seems that he succeeded. What exactly did he say to you?" "I can't remember exactly. But it was wonderful. He's so wise. Even my bottom doesn't feel sore any more from my well-deserved spanking." "You're talking just like the rest of the crazy people here, Astra." "Fred, how can you say such a thing?! But before long you'll come to see how marvellous Reaibn is, and how right the people are to trust and respect him."
