Lord Fred Protests

"King Emry decided that he didn't want to do the job any more, Your Majesty, and has abdicated. And all those ahead of you in the line of succession have said that they do not want to be the monarch."

"But that's impossible! I can't believe that King Emry would abdicate, or that if he did no one else would want the job. I wasn't away that long on my quest, and there was no hint of any of this before I left. I must speak to him."

Before Reaibn could reply, Astra said: "And another thing. What's all this about me being Queen? I'm not married to Fred, and at present I have no intention of marrying him. I've only known him for a very short time and, although I value him as a companion in arms and - I hope - a friend, that's as far as it goes."

1. "We will have the marriage immediately after the coronation," Reaibn says. "Or maybe immediately before it would be better."
2. "But you have to marry Lord Fred," Reaibn tells Astra.
3. "I am afraid that ex-King Emry has said that he does not wish to be disturbed," Reaibn informs Fred.
4. Reaibn says something even crazier.
