And there was Astra, as beautiful as ever and as naked as almost ever. Josh had actually made good on his promise!

"Astra!" Fred said. "It's so good to see you. But I thought that you were supposed to be in Hell?"

"Why this is Hell, nor am I out of it," Astra said, inadvertantly quoting a famous line.

"Huh?"

"I'm trapped in an incredibly boring room that I can't escape, even though there's a staircase running through it. That seems like Hell to me. My guess is that it's a sort of annex to the main part of Hell."

"But why can't you escape? Josh evidently did."

"The normal laws of time and space don't seem to apply to him. Just because he can wander freely doesn't mean that I can. And I suspect that it doesn't mean that you can, either. Still, if you're trapped here too then at least I'll have some company. I don't count Josh."

1. "Hey, what about me?" said a plaintive voice. Fred was startled, as he somehow hadn't seen Scott Chen till now.
2. "Have you thought of holding on to Josh next time he leaves?" Fred asked. Astra shuddered at the thought of bodily contact with Josh.
3. "Talking of Josh, where is he?" Fred said. "He seems to have vanished." "Rather neatly making my point for me," Astra pointed out.
