Pun lock

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 92963

Fred can't figure out the lock. He beats his fist on the wall in frustration. His hand becomes numb. In a flash of inspiration, he beats his fist on the wall again, making his hand even number.

"That makes no sense," he observes as he spreads out his aching fingers to examine them. "I have five fingers. How can that be an even number?"

After pondering a bit he uses his undamaged hand to set the lock to 5. Nothing happens. Obviously it takes more digits to make a combination.

  1. Fred spots a pile of earth and starts to dig it.
  2. He makes another numerical pun .
  3. He makes a wild guess.
  4. He whips the wild guess into submission, making it a tame estimate.
  5. He gives up.
  6. He takes down.
