The Guardians

"What do you want from me, anyway? Who are you?" asked Carola.

"We are the Guardians," said the man in the ornate armor. "We are dedicating to guarding the Pyramid of Balance, a powerful magic artifact. But now someone is trying to steal it, and we need you to stop them." Carola didn't think that a powerful magic artifact was very safe in the hands of a group that would kidnap and threaten to kill people without a pang of remorse, but she didn't say it. The man continued: "One of our abilities is that we can, to a limited degree, percieve the future. And we saw that only you can defeat the person who is trying to steal the Pyramid, and reshape reality in his own image. Will you help us?"

Carola didn't know what to do. She didn't trust these people, but it seemed as if she didn't have any choice. "Alright," she said.

"Good," said the man. "Release the prisoners," he commanded to one of his subordinates.

They unlocked the chains that bound Jarlath, Matthias, and Belinda.

"Are you alright?" Belinda asked them.

"My arms hurt like hell, but I'm fine," said Jarlath.

The others agreed.
