As the eye winked, a strange laughter rang throughout the ship. "Yes, it's
the Master alright," said Betty. "I'd know that laugh anywhere." Then, the TARDIS shook and shuddered, as if it were an earthquake, knocking everyone off their feet. Then, the eye faded from the Eye, and the TARDIS stopped shaking. Fred got up ruefully. "What happened?" he asked. The Doctor frowned. "I really don't know," he said. "I suppose we'll find out soon enough." They walked back through the hallway towards the TARDIS console room. As Astra walked, she pondered. She was genuinely frightened by the whole strangeness of this. She tried not to think too much about the Eye, after all there's no point in worrying until you know for sure what's wrong. She decided to think about Fred instead. She genuinely admired him, from what she knew of him. He was a man of great honor, courage, and integrity. And he was very handsome as well. (She didn't feel she was in love with him, though. Just what had come over her when she kissed him, anyway?) But the idea of him being the person that she'd searched for all those years just seemed wrong. Every person who'd had the ability to Dream before this had been female. In Aqualaria, men held a subservient role to women, so it was entirely fitting that this, the greatest of gifts, should be given to women alone. Not one man had numbered among the Pythias, the Seers who divined the future through their dreams, not for all the history of Aqualaria. So just why was the Pythia who was destined to save the universe a man? She was jolted from her thoughts as they reached the console room. "The Time Rotor has stopped," said the Doctor. "We've landed, wherever we are." The Doctor looked at the viewscreen and saw that:
