Stacy sighed. Sympathetic or not, the man seemed unlikley to be convinced by further argument. He announced that he was off to contact the appropriate people to remove and examine their transponders, and left the two of them alone in a waiting area. Well, it was better than a cell, anyway, Stacy supposed.

After a few minutes, Julie began to squirm uncomfortably. "I don't like this," she said. "I don't care what he says, I think it's a mistake to wait."

"Well, I don't see a whole lot else we can do," said Stacy. "Do you?"

  1. "No, I suppose not," Julie sighed.
  2. "Yes," replied Julie. "I'm not sitting here any longer!"
  3. But Julie's reply was drowned out by a sudden loud noise from the next room.
