Feeling the blood rush to her face, Stacy joined him at the microscope. "What is it?"

He frowned. "Look at this," he said, allowing Stacy to peer through the insturment. "See that? Definite evidence of damage to the hippocampus, as well as other areas of the brain. That could certainly account for the memory-loss effects you described."

Stacy was not an expert in brain anatomy -- or at least, she didn't think she was -- but she could see what Geoff was talking about: tiny but *very* noticable -- and ugly --leisons in certain areas of the mouse's brain. She gave a small sigh. "That does look horrible, doesn't it? Does this mean the loss is probably irreversable?"

  1. "I'm afraid it doesn't look good..."
  2. "Not necessarily. It might be a question of access to the memories, rather than the actual loss of the memories themselves. Hmmm..."
  3. "Maybe not. I have a colleague who's working on an experimental procedure..."
