Astonishingly the twenty-seven survivors, including Astra, seem
unconcerned by this development, but continue stuffing themselves, apart
from a couple who are too ill to eat. You come to the conclusion that
there must be some sort of gluttony spell affecting them all. Luckily you
yourself seem to be immune. Perhaps it only affects females, or maybe
only princesses. So you eat sparingly, making sure that you choose only
long-life items.
You need to find a way to get rid of the dead bodies, if conditions are not quickly to become even worse than they already are. Getting any help from the surviving princesses is clearly out, at least until the supplies of food are exhausted. All they seem able to think about is food. But then you find that the dead bodies have mysteriously vanished while your back was turned. None of the princesses - or at least none of those willing to stop eating for long enough to reply to your questions - admits to knowing anything about it. More magic, presumably. You don't like it. Meanwhile the two who were sick have recovered. Perhaps all the survivors have built up some sort of natural immunity, or maybe there will be more cases of sickness in the future. You had thought that there was enough food in the giant fridge to feed the princesses for months, but you hadn't allowed for their gluttony. In spite of their reduced numbers, within a week the fridge is empty.
